Mattia Antonio Cianca is an internationally recognised sommelier with more than 15 years of experience in Michelin-starred restaurants and among the World’s 50 Best. Born in Rome and trained in Melbourne, he has built a global career that has led him to direct world-class beverage programmes across several continents. He was named Best Sommelier of Australia (2017) and Best Sommelier of Italy (2019), and has represented both countries in prestigious international competitions, from the Best Sommelier of Asia & Pacific in Japan in 2018 to the Best Sommelier of the World in Paris in 2023.
Holder of the ASI Diploma Gold and the WSET Level 4 Diploma, he is also an Advanced Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers and a candidate for the prestigious Master Sommelier title. Beyond competitions, he serves as a judge in international exams and contests, writes professional wine reviews, and collaborates with leading producers and institutions worldwide.
